IP Parking was founded by several enthusiastic and experienced people working in the parking branch. Our experience in the parking branch has been built up since 1987, originally through designing parking and access hardware along with the relevant software.

Today’s staff at IP Parking were responsible for introducing barcode technology into parking systems for the first time in the world, almost 20 years ago. This made it possible to make considerable savings on maintenance costs. The technology most used at the time was the magnetic card, but this was relatively expensive and time-consuming. Clients and advisors soon started recommending barcode technology. Today, nearly all the parking suppliers in the world have switched to barcode technology.

This technological lead was made possible because market needs in the Netherlands were much greater than in the surrounding countries. One important factor in this was – and still is – the high parking fees in the Netherlands, due partly to the shortage of space in our relatively small country.

As we want to keep this lead, we have combined our years of experience in parking with the latest network technology in order to create a brand new product: IP One, which is completely web-based. And of course, concepts with a proven track record, such as access control, fee calculation and discounts, etc., have been retained.

As the IP technology had to be completely integrated in the parking branch, it was an ideal opportunity for IP Parking to start up a new company, which is fully equipped for the innovative internet technology.
